Realizing the Spirit of Occupational Safety, K3L Division Holds Socialization on K3 Competition

As one of the leading universities, Universitas Brawijaya (UB) is committed to not only improving the tridharma of education or developing facilities in the university environment, all of that will not run smoothly if UB does not also pay attention to security, comfort and safety of the academic community, both for those who are carrying out teaching and learning activities or working on campus. In commemorating the K3 month, the Occupational Safety, Health and Environment (K3L) Division held a socialization of preparations for the implementation of the K3 competition at UB faculty level with the theme “Strengthening Human Resource Capacity in Supporting the Implementation of the K3 Management System to Increase Productivity”, Wednesday (27/2).

Prof. Dr. Ir. Qomariyatus Sholihah ST, M.Kes as the Head of the K3L Division said that this activity aims to increase awareness of UB residents about the importance of K3L culture and provide a significant impact with the implementation of the competition. The selected faculty is expected to become a role model for the implementation of K3L through the use of owned resources and carried out sustainably. According to her, safety in work and academic activities is a top priority considering that it is closely related to discipline and ethics. Both do not only apply in the industrial world which is considered full of risk, but the world of education also needs to implement it properly. Awareness of small things such as how to use facilities according to needs, interactions between humans based on norms, the commitment of each individual in bringing a positive work culture, all of which are needed to initiate work safety as well as to create a healthy environment.

The implementation of the K3 competition is divided into two categories, namely the Digital Education and High-rise Building competitions. For the mechanism of the digital education category competition, participants are required to upload a 3 to 5 minutes digital campaign video through the faculty’s social media account, either website, Instagram or YouTube, then participants send the upload link to the committee via the submission form provided, using the hashtag option and mentioning the K3L Division account in the uploaded content. While in the High-rise Building competition category, each faculty prepares one building as a role model for the implementation of K3L including the availability of building infrastructure in dealing with potential disasters and evacuation routes. Attaching the field assessment form, identification form, risk assessment and control, and building evacuation plan. The competition will be held from March 1 to April 30, followed by field verification in May and the announcement of the championship in August.
