Realizing Independent Dairy Cattle Breeding through Meet UB Professor

Professor at the Faculty of Animal Husbandry, Brawijaya University (Fapet UB), Prof. Trinil Susilawati held a Meet UB’s Professor event, Thursday (19/10/2023). Taking place at SAE Pujon Cooperative Head Office, this event is a continuation of the collaboration between the SAE Pujon Cooperative, PT. Nestle, and Singosari Artificial Insemination Center (BBIB), in order to realize independent dairy cattle breeding by farmers.

The theme raised at the meeting was Artificial Insemination (IB) using sexing cement in Pujon.

Prof. Trinil with Faculty of Animal Husbandry UB Lecturer, Aulia Puspita Anugra Yekti, M.Sc. and Anu Atul Arif, MP presented the results of research from 2021 to 2023 regarding the implementation of IB sexing cement products produced by BBIB Singosari and BBIB Lembang.

According to Trinil, the purpose of using sexing semen is to obtain female calves (cow calves) to be used as replacement mothers. So it can increase production and population of dairy cattle.

In addition, she also discussed the problem of failed pregnancy or fetal death caused by the endemic foot and mouth disease that attacked ruminant livestock in Indonesia several years ago.

“We hope that through this collaboration we can solve the problems faced at SAE Pujon. “So that independent farming can be realized and the population and production of dairy cattle can be increased.” Trinil said

The activity was attended by the Director and staff of Singosari Artificial Insemination Center (BBIB), the leadership and staff of SAE Pujon, staff of the East Java Provincial Livestock Service, staff of PT. Nestle, Inseminator and head of the dairy farmer group in SAE Pujon region. (TS/dta/oky/UB PR/ Trans. Iir)
