The Converting Center of Raden Patah Mosque, Universitas Brawijaya (MRP UB) again helped someone convert to Islam on Wednesday (24/4/2024). The Convert Center itself is a supporting organ for mosque activities in terms of providing a forum and developing someone who has just started following the teachings of Islam.
This time, a foreign national (WNA) from England, just call him James, visited MRP to recite two sentences of the shahada.
James admitted that he wanted to study Islam because he was interested in its good teachings.
“There is no element of coercion from any party. My parents are also very supportive to my decision,” he said.
He became interested in Islam when he met Aisyah, a master’s student at the Faculty of Agricultural Engineering (FTP), in a student exchange program when he was still in high school.
“After meeting Aisyah, we started chatting more intensely and discussing Islamic teachings,” he said.
The pronunciation of the two sentences of the shahada was guided by Drs. Samsul Arifin M.Ag., Lecturer in Islamic Religious Education (PAI) UB. This activity was also witnessed by witnesses present from the MRP management and friends of the British foreigner.
MRP Public Relations Aulia Luqman Aziz, M.Pd., said that this converting center can not only be used by UB academics, but also the entire community, both domestic and foreign, can get this facility.
“All people can use the services of MRP,” he explained.
People who want to use the services of the Muslim convert center can directly contact the MRP management.
“Just contact the MRP administrator directly, then we will prepare the necessary documents,” he said.
Meanwhile, to date UB Raden Patah Mosque (MRP) has converted 58 people from all over Indonesia. (FRH/Oky/UB PR/ Trans. Iir).
