Local and spiritual wisdom integrated into the WISH (Wisdom, Innovation, Sustainability, Harmony) conceptual framework is seen as appropriate moral and ethical basis for local government decision-making. These local values are considered more sustainable than relying on solutions that are only universal and technology-based.
“The conventional approach is trapped in the efficiency and technology aspects of governance. Meanwhile, the integration of cultural wisdom and spiritual values aims to create more sustainable solutions, considering the uniqueness and specific needs of local communities,” said Prof. Dr. Irwan Noor, MA who will be inaugurated on Thursday (11/28/2024) as a Professor in the field of Local Government Innovation.
He said that the model he offers emphasizes sustainability and harmony as the core of local government innovation. A holistic approach which emphasizes that every step of innovation policy is required by harmony and balance between modern progress and the preservation of local values.
He conveyed as an example a local perspective on government management including disaster management. The combination of sophisticated data analysis and local wisdom can produce policies that are in accordance with the characteristics and needs of the community.
“Natural resource management policies, the data can be used to identify potential and existing challenges, while local cultural values and traditions can provide perspective on how these resources should be managed wisely,” he said.
The lecturer from the Faculty of Administrative Sciences said that WISH is unique since it combines local cultural wisdom and spiritual values with modern technology. The important values, namely efficiency and technological progress, are not the main foundations in developing innovation, but take into account non-material dimensions that are often overlooked.
