
On the first day of the Introduction to Campus Life for New Students (PKKMB) Universitas Brawijaya for the 2024/2025 Academic Year, or known as Raja Brawijaya, the sixth session presented Vice Rector V, Prof. Dr. Unti Ludigdo, SE., M.Si, Ak., as a speaker. Taking place at the Samantha Krida Building, Universitas Brawijaya on Monday (12/08/2024), Prof. Unti presented material with the theme “Introduction to the Ranks & Explanation of Planning and Strategic Programs of Research, Innovation, and Community Service UB, including Management of Student Innovation.”
In his presentation, Prof. Unti explained that Universitas Brawijaya has five work units that play an important role in research and innovation. One of the main units is the Directorate of Research and Community Service (DRPM) led by Prof. Luchman Hakim, S.Si., M.Agr.Sc., Ph.D., and Prof. Dodi Wirawan Irawanto, S.E., M.Com., Ph.D. DRPM facilitates research activities, especially for lecturers and students involved in the Student Creativity Program (PKM). Prof. Unti encourages students, especially those in their final semester, to take advantage of the opportunity to join DRPM research activities to support their final assignments. In addition, the Directorate of Innovation and Science and Technology Areas, led by Mohammad Iqbal, S.Sos., M.I.B., DBA, and Sri Palupi Prabandari, SE, M.M., Ph.D., plays a role in managing aspects of research and innovation at UB. Prof. Unti emphasized the importance of students’ roles as contributors and catalysts in driving innovation, by providing successful examples of UB students who founded startups and obtained large funding.
Three technical service units, namely the Integrated Research Laboratory UPT led by Dr. Yuni Kilawati, the Integrated Service Laboratory under Prof. Dr. Ir. Bambang Dwi Argo, DEA., and the Forest Area Management UPT led by Dr. Muchammad Roviq, SP., MP., were also explained by Prof. Unti. These units provide research facilities with sophisticated tools, ensure the quality of research data, and develop research activities in UB’s forest areas.
Prof. Unti emphasized that students can accelerate their study period by becoming research assistants for lecturers, as well as being involved in various research and publication schemes facilitated by the university.
“Students who want to graduate quickly should try to become research assistants for lecturers, they can accelerate students’ research abilities by following schemes in the form of research or publications that will greatly accelerate the study period,” added Desi Dwi Prianti, S.Sos., M.Comn., Ph.D., one of the expert staff of Vice Rector V, who also accompanied Prof. Unti in this session.
