Brawijaya University (UB) Library held a Library Class with the theme: “Go Scopus Series Batch 4: Using AI Platform to Search References from Scopus.” The activity, which was held in Meeting Room 1, UB Library Building, Floor 1, aims to maximize the use of e-resources subscribed by the library and help students and lecturers write Final Assignments and Research.

Library Class was opened by UB’s Vice Rector for Academic Affairs, Prof. Dr. Ir. Imam Santoso, MP, who officially opened this training. The participants in this event are UB Doctoral Program students who are committed to deepening their knowledge in the use of artificial intelligence (AI) technology in academic research.

This training was delivered by two expert presenters, namely Mr. Ir. Hery Prayitno and Pitoyo Widhi Atmoko, S.Sc., M.Si.

In his speech, Prof. Dr. Ir. Imam Santoso, MP, said that this training was a step forward in UB Library’s efforts to support the academic development of Doctoral Program students. The use of AI technology is a manifestation of UB’s commitment to providing relevant and competitive education.

Vice Rector 1 said that the materials provided in this training were very important for Doctoral Program students to be more optimal and faster in working on their dissertations. He appealed to students to work on their dissertations on campus so they can concentrate more and there are no distractions. Campus is no longer experiencing a pandemic, so the facilities on campus must be utilized optimally. Therefore, Prof. Imam appealed to make UB Library more comfortable by providing complete facilities.

Moreover, UB Library service hours have also been extended to 9 pm so that students have more time to work on their final assignments on campus. In the future, UB Library will provide full support regarding final assignment writing, the librarians will help with writing techniques. Vice Rector 1 appealed to participants to inform their friends about the Library Class.

In Batch 4 of “Go Scopus Series” training series, participants were taught how to install and use various AI tools and platforms that can support their research, including installation and use of EduVPNUB: Participants learned how to access EduVPNUB, which is a key tool for accessing various online research resources, use of Publish or Perish: Training involves familiarization with this tool which helps in evaluating the impact of research and finding relevant references, use of Perplexity. Through this application, participants are expected to gain an in-depth understanding of the Perplexity method which is useful in measuring text complexity and analyzing literature, as well as material including the use of ChatGPT AI, which helps students in searching for references and answering their research questions.

Ir. Hery Prayitno hopes that the training participants will feel the great benefits of this AI technology, which will help them make finding references easier and increase their research productivity.

“Go Scopus Series Batch 4” training is a manifestation of UB’s innovative approach in supporting Doctoral Program students in achieving competitive advantage in an increasingly complex academic world. Through this training, the library hopes that students will be able to produce high-quality research that will have a positive impact on the development of science. (*/OKY/UB PR/ Trans. Iir)
