“Don’t be discouraged to continue learning, to continue showing your best potential, to continue optimizing your potential and to be active in the organization. Even though currently lecture activities and student activities are carried out online because of the pandemic we are facing”.
The statement was made by the Vice Dean III of Student Affairs, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Universitas Brawijaya (FISIP UB), K.H.A. Muwafik Saleh, S.Sos., M.Si, Saturday (7/11/2020) when he opened the Student Day 4 event online.
Muwafik said that there will be three materials that will be obtained by new students (maba) in that day, the first is about entrepreneurship. “Entrepreneurship is one of the best solutions you need to have. In entrepreneurship, there are three important things, namely creativity, an attitude of innovation, and the courage to take risks, “said the smiling lecturer.
“The second material will be delivered by Lecturer of Communication Sciences, Rachmat Kriyantono., S.Sos., M.Sc., Ph.D, regarding anti-corruption. This is considered important since it is a serious problem. If we don’t finish it, it will weaken the foundation of our nation. The great nation will be eaten by a chronic disease called corruption. Therefore, today we want to build awareness, build enthusiasm so that we can keep away from such despicable acts, “he added.
Beside these two materials, today there will also be a topic regarding the optimization of student potential through new students’ cup which will be conducted online. Muwafik said, “Even though we are online, it does not close the opportunity to optimize your potential, abilities, and skills. Today is also the opening of the 2020 new students’ cup ”.
Muwafik hopes that all new students can participate actively in all series of student activities carried out by FISIP. “The Grade Point Average is only an administrative requirement if you apply for a job while the competitive advantages are achievements, abilities, soft skills, all of which you can only get in various student activities,” said Muwafik.
At the end of his speech, Muwafik congratulated students on the student day series and obliged all of them to attend two webinars. The first is on the 21st which will be attended by the Head of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK). And on November 10th there will be a national seminar which will be attended by the Vice President of Indonesia, Ma’aruf Amin.
“FISIP is the only faculty in Universitas Brawijaya which this year is able to present Mr. Vice President directly through zoom. Therefore, let’s attend and enliven the seminar, “said Muwafik. (mon/ RMA/ Humas FISIP/ Humas UB/ Trans. Iir)
