As a form of preserving history and culture, Village Build Student Team (MMD) 865 from Universitas Brawijaya participated in a tour of events which were held in several villages in the western region of Panekan District, last Friday to Monday (21-24/7/2023). One of the participating villages is Bedagung where the group serves.
In this activity, the MMD team was entrusted with helping with the preparation and successful implementation of the event, from parades, bazaars, competitions for children, socialization of illegal cigarettes, blood donations, and cultural arts performances. “In this event, two people from the 865 group joined the parade group,” said Mochamad Rafli, a member of the 865 group.

Even though he walked a long way, he added, Richard Reza Simanjuntak did not regret this experience. “Because I can enjoy the beauty of nature and the life of the village community and mingle with the village community.” he said when he managed to cross the finish line in Sumberdodol Village.
Not only during the parade, the 865 group was also involved in community service cleaning Kedung Molang. “In the morning, we help weed the grass so that the water source and the pride of Bedagung community is cleaner and more beautiful, while having fun and sharing stories with village officials and the community,” explained Rafli.
Tracing the springs is an annual event in five villages, namely Sumber Kuluhan and Tourism Park in Jabung Village, Sumber Njambran in Ngiliran Village, Sumber Molang in Bedagung Village, Sumber Nganten in Sukowidi Village, and Sumber Tirta and Sumber Plethok in Sumberdodol Village. . This year is the second year the event has been held. Parade participants walked 8.2 km along the road that passed the seven kedung.
“Previously, when our parents used to have high water sources. We crossed the school via the Kalen (river). But now the debit is low.” explained Tri Nurhidayat, Bedagung Village Secretary, when met at Bedagung Village Office, Tuesday (25/7). Not only that, the village government of Bedagung is also working with the Inter-Village Cooperation Agency (BKAD) as the organizer to cooperate with the Animal Husbandry and Fisheries Service which contributed fish seeds. The seeds were sown in the seven sources. This is done considering that the fish that live in these sources are decreasing.
He hopes that by holding Napak Tilas, the condition of the springs can at least return to how it used to be. “Here (the western region) there is still a lot of water, but below that when it’s dry, it’s dry, it’s difficult (because) you have to drill. Our hope is that sources from above will continue to flow and flow,” he said. Furthermore, this activity is expected to be a means of educating young generations who will continue the nation on the importance of nature,” he concluded. [UB PR/ Trans. Iir]
