Prof. Widodo

The Rector of Universitas Brawijaya (UB), Prof. Widodo, S.Si., M.Sc., Ph.D.Med.Sc., once again showed his academic leadership in a Seminar Discussion at the International Symposium of 12 Countries, 12 Universities held at Nanjing University of Posts and Telecommunications (NJUPT), China.

The discussion session with the theme “Artificial Intelligence on Empowering Higher Education Cooperation” presented university leaders to present strategies for implementing artificial intelligence (AI) in supporting the transformation of global higher education. In his presentation, Prof. Widodo said that Universitas Brawijaya has systematically integrated AI in various aspects of the campus, including first, AI-Based curriculum: All UB students, from various disciplines, are equipped with an understanding and ability to use AI technology to support learning, research, and innovation. Second, the use of AI in the Academic System: UB utilizes AI to analyze learning achievements, identify individual student potential, and monitor academic conditions in each study program.

Third, the development of AI-Based Research Environment. AI is an important tool in encouraging multidisciplinary research, accelerating innovation, and supporting data-based decision making. UB has an AI Center and Super Computer in developing AI.

Fourth, international cooperation through AI. UB invites consortium members to develop AI-based cooperation, both through the exchange of teaching staff, research collaboration, and the development of a digital learning ecosystem between countries.

Prof. Widodo emphasized the importance of making AI as a connector, not a barrier, in building a fair, inclusive, and future-oriented international collaboration ecosystem. “AI is not just a technological tool, but a catalyst for collaboration and the future of higher education,” he said.
