Universitas Brawijaya (UB) has reaffirmed its commitment to support alumni empowerment and strengthening business networks through an event entitled “UB Chancellor Greets: IKA UB Banyuwangi Branch”. The event, which took place at the Kokoon Hotel Ballroom, was attended directly by UB Chancellor, Prof. Widodo, S.Si., M.Si., Ph.D.Med.Sc., along with the university leadership and the central management of Alumni Association of Universitas Brawijaya (IKA UB) (27-01-2025).
This event is one of the strategic steps to strengthen the relationship between UB and its alumni in Banyuwangi area. In his remarks, Prof. Widodo appreciated the synergy that has been established and encouraged alumni to continue to be the driving force of change. “Alumni of Universitas Brawijaya must be able to become agents of change in their respective environments. Your dedication and real work are proof of the success of your alma mater,” he said.
The Chancellor also emphasized the importance of cooperation in developing alumni-based business networks. “We fully support productive collaboration between UB and IKA UB Banyuwangi. Through strategic partnerships, we can strengthen alumni networks to create a wider positive impact,” he added.
In the event, Deputy Chairperson of IKA UB Banyuwangi Branch, Dr. Novi Prayekti, S.Si., M.Pd., emphasized his party’s commitment to strengthen alumni capacity through collaborative programs. “We will continue to synergize with Universitas Brawijaya, IKA UB Central, and various related parties. Hopefully, UB alumni in Banyuwangi can actively contribute in their respective fields, while maintaining close relations with their alma mater,” he said.
As a form of real contribution, this event was also filled with the symbolic handover of 1,000 durian seedlings to the community, which illustrates UB’s concern for the environment. In addition, the atmosphere was even more lively with the distinctive appearance of three Banyuwangi Gandrung maestros, namely Gandrung Temu, Gandrung Dartik, and Gandrung Sunasih, who performed traditional Banyuwangi dances.
The event, which ended with a discussion, became an important momentum in strengthening the connection between Universitas Brawijaya, alumni, and the local community. In the spirit of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education, Prof. Widodo invited all alumni to continue to work and provide benefits to the community without having to wait to have a strategic position.
Through this similar program, Universitas Brawijaya hopes to encourage alumni to be more active in contributing to build a better environment, while strengthening business networks that support joint development. “Let’s build pride as part of the big family of Brawijaya and together create positive change,” concluded Prof. Widodo.
