UB Holds Opening Ceremony of National Gebyar Brawijaya Qur’ani X

Universitas Brawijaya (UB) once again held the biggest annual religious event, the 10th National Gebyar Brawijaya Qur’ani (GBQN X), which took place at the Samantha Krida Building on Thursday, (10/24/2024). This event was held through UB Religious Arts Student Activity Unit (UKM), which carried the theme “Grounding the Heart in Upholding Eternal Civilization of the Quran”. This activity aims to strengthen the values of the Qur’an among high school students and college students through nine competition categories that focus on religious skills and Islamic arts.

In his remarks, Dr. Setiawan Noerdajasakti, S.H., M.H., as Vice Rector III for Student Affairs, Alumni and Student Entrepreneurship, emphasized the importance of this activity as a forum for healthy competition and mental education. VR III also gave an important message to the participants regarding the challenges of today’s young generation, where currently people often hear the term “strawberry generation” which means beautiful on the outside but fragile on the inside. GBQN is an opportunity for the young generation to show that they are a strong generation and ready to become future leaders. “GBQN is a very important, special, and strategic event. Participants not only compete, but also learn to become strong individuals with strong characters. This competition provides benefits in the form of valuable experience and the ability to compete healthily and honestly,” he said.

The GBQN X activity was attended by around 1,300 participants consisting of students from 16 provinces throughout Indonesia. The competition categories that were competed included Musabaqah Tilawatil Qur’an, Musabaqah Tartilil Qur’an, Musabaqah Syarhil Qur’an, Musabaqah Hifdzil Qur’an, Musabaqah Khattil Qur’an, Musabaqah Fahmil Qur’an, Scientific Writing of Qur’an, Nasyid, and Al-Banjari. Nabil Faruqi, as the Chief Executive of GBQN X, said that this activity was not only a competition, but also a place to foster friendship and strengthen good relations between participants. “We really hope that this event will be a moment to establish good relations in the future. By welcoming participants and participating in this activity, we hope that the blessings of the Qur’an will accompany us all,” he concluded.

The event started at 14.00 WIB with a nasyid performance from the Band Activity Unit (UAB) as well as the reading of the Qur’an and tilawah that invited silence and gratitude from all attendees. The religious and solemn atmosphere was felt since the beginning of the event. The entire series of events that were prepared carefully are expected to be able to build a competitive atmosphere that remains based on the values of honesty and Islamic sportsmanship. GBQN X is also special because for the first time it combines several competitions that are held online before the peak event is held directly. This online activity not only facilitates participation from various regions, but also serves as proof that the spirit of spreading the values of the Qur’an can continue even in the digital era and continue to be grounded as a guideline in everyday life.
