Universitas Brawijaya Encourages Digital Talent Development through Coding Camp 2025

Universitas Brawijaya (UB) has once again reaffirmed its commitment to facilitate students to face the needs of the digital industry through the implementation of the Coding Camp 2025 Roadshow. The socialization event, which was held online, was attended by UB leaders, representatives of Dicoding Indonesia, the Independent Learning Independent Campus (MBKM) team, and hundreds of students from various faculties at UB on Friday (11/29/2024).

Dr. Rosihan Asmara, S.E., M.P., Director of UB Directorate of Administration and Academic Services, in his remarks expressed his appreciation for the implementation of this program. “Universitas Brawijaya will always support MBKM activities like this, even though we may not know what the future will be like. But here, I feel happy that students’ skills can still be accommodated with this Coding Camp. Anything that can bring benefit to students and Universitas Brawijaya will continue to be supported by UB. Secondly, even though it is not packaged in the form of MBKM, we will still socialize this to students so that they can create independence regarding competencies according to the Chancellor’s request,” he said before officially opening the event.

Coding Camp 2025

This program is a solution to the discontinuation of the BANGKIT internship program in the upcoming even semester. Instead, Coding Camp from the DBS Foundation offers more inclusive and in-depth learning opportunities.

Mutiara Arumsari, Senior Program Manager of Dicoding Indonesia, highlighted the important role of students in overcoming the digital talent gap in Indonesia. “It is undeniable that students are the key to meeting the need for digital talent. We, at Dicoding only act as facilitators who prepare students’ careers in the technology field,” she said. As a partner in this program, Dicoding noted Universitas Brawijaya as the second largest contributor of participants in this program for the past five years.

DBS Foundation Coding Camp 2025 is not only part of the company’s social responsibility, but also provides access to technology learning to various levels of society, including women, people with disabilities, and lower-middle economic groups. This program is free of charge with full funding from the Singapore-based DBS Foundation.

The Coding Camp 2025 program presents a structured learning method in five stages. First, online self-paced, in the form of independent learning carried out through the Dicoding platform. Second, capstone project, where participants work in teams to complete projects designed to solve real problems. The next stage is reflection and consultation, where participants receive individual or group guidance from mentors. In addition, there is online synchronous, which is an interactive learning session held online with practitioners.

This program not only focuses on developing tech skills, such as machine learning, full-stack development, and other digital literacies, but also building soft skills. Participants will be equipped with personal productivity, growth mindset, stress management, communication and networking skills, to personal branding and interview preparation. In fact, English language skills and financial literacy such as wealth management and financial resilience are also important parts of the curriculum.

“This program not only focuses on technical skills, but also the formation of soft skills such as growth mindset, stress management, and networking. All of this aims to produce digital talents who are not only technically competent, but also resilient and adaptive,” Mutiara added.
