Universitas Brawijaya (UB) has once again achieved a remarkable milestone in attracting international students through the Brawijaya International Student Scholarship (BISS) 2025. After the application period officially closed on Friday, March 7, 2025, UB received 2,254 applications from 67 countries across Southeast Asia, Central Asia, South Asia, the Middle East, East Asia, Africa, and Europe. This marks a significant increase from last year’s 400 applicants, highlighting UB’s growing global reputation.
The dramatic surge in applications reflects the university’s strengthened international standing and the success of its global engagement strategies. BISS 2025 offers a fully funded opportunity for international students to pursue their studies at UB, covering tuition fees (UKT), living allowances, health insurance, round-trip airfare, and dormitory accommodation. The scholarship is available for Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Doctoral programs, making it one of the most comprehensive scholarship schemes offered by an Indonesian university.

Vice Rector for Academic Affairs Prof. Dr. Ir. Imam Santoso, M.P. stated that this increase in applicants is clear evidence of UB’s rising appeal among international students. “We are extremely proud to see such enthusiasm for the BISS scholarship this year. Compared to last year, the growth has been phenomenal. This proves that UB is increasingly recognized as a leading educational destination in Asia and beyond. With high-quality academic programs, modern facilities, and a multicultural learning environment, UB continues to attract students from all over the world,” he said.
With the steady increase in international student applications, UB further cements its position as a world-class university and a hub for innovation, collaboration, and cultural exchange. The BISS scholarship not only provides international students with access to quality education but also enriches UB’s academic and cultural diversity. Committed to fostering global partnerships, UB will continue expanding opportunities for international students and strengthening its international academic network.
