Universitas Brawijaya (UB) today (12/10/2023) hold the inauguration of the International Lounge and signed a cooperation agreement with the Immigration Office for East Java and Malang City. The event was led by the Rector of UB, Prof Widodo S.Si M.Si PhD., Med Sc, and attended by various related parties, including the Vice Rector, Dean and leaders within UB, as well as representatives from the East Java Immigration Office and especially the immigration office Malang city.
International Lounge: UPT international Academic Affair (International Office), UPT WCU reputation and Immigration Service, which are located on the 3rd floor of shared services building in UB campus, are facilities specifically designed to support international students and visiting academic staff. This lounge will provide various services and information related to immigration, academics, and other important aspects needed by foreign students and academic staff. Thus, UB continues to be committed to improving the international education experience for its campus community.
UB Rector, Widodo S.Si M.Si PhD., Med Sc, said, “We are very proud of the opening of this International Lounge, which will make it easier for our international students in the immigration process and provide the support needed in adapting to our academic environment. “In addition, the cooperation that has been signed with the Immigration Office will also strengthen our collaboration in serving immigration for all parties involved.”
In the report submitted by UB’s Vice Chancellor (WR) I for Academic Affairs, Prof. Imam Santoso, Besides launching immigration services, UB also launched the UPT WCU Reputation building. This unit is related to the ability to process data more quickly, especially for services to foreign students and academics who will carry out international activities abroad.
“With the existence of this International Lounge, it not only serves immigration matters but is also related to increasing UB’s ranking, which is currently still in position 800, and in the future we are targeting to be ranked 500,” stressed Prof Imam.
Signing a cooperation agreement with the Immigration Office is a strategic step for UB. This aims to strengthen relations between campus and the authorities in immigration matters. This collaboration will also simplify the administration and residence permit process for foreign students and academic staff who choose UB as their educational destination.
In an effort to support academic mobility and cultural exchange, UB continues to be committed to create a friendly environment for international students. The presence of the International Lounge and partnership with the Immigration Office are important milestones in achieving this goal.
