In celebrating the holy month of Ramadan, Muslims do not only carry out the obligation of fasting, but there are also other worships that need to be carried out as perfection in this blessed month. Opening the heart to share with others and interpreting the Qur’an as a guide to life is part of the beautiful dynamics of fasting, this is what Universitas Brawijaya did by holding a commemoration of Nuzulul Qur’an and providing assistance to administrators and orphanages throughout Malang Raya, at the Raden Fatah mosque, on Friday (3/21).
The Head of UB Religious Development Center (PPA), Dr. Khusnul Fathony said that the activity entitled “The Qur’an as a Source of Spiritual Nutrition in the Modern Era” invited 75 orphanages and 450 orphans along with administrators. This event is not only a moment to share happiness, but also a manifestation of UB’s commitment to instilling spiritual values in the campus environment. “With the presence of orphans and dhuafa, we as part of the campus academic community ask for your willingness to pray together for the progress of the university towards higher achievements, the success of our leaders in carrying out their mandate and of course the opportunity for orphans to be part of UB students in the future,” he said.
Vice Rector V for Research and Innovation, Prof. Dr. Unti Ludigdo, SE, M.Si, Ak, expressed his gratitude for the holding of this annual activity in the month of Ramadan. UB will be committed to continuing to be together with orphans and dhuafa, where glory will continue to be present in the midst of Muslims who are always close to them and the underprivileged community. “Of course, this commitment must be accompanied by awareness of the mindset of the younger generation, how the campus and students synergize to create Qur’anic behaviors, love for the mosque as a form of approach to the divine to instill a sense of giving to brothers and sisters in need.
On that occasion, UB also invited the Chairman of the Indonesian Ulama Council (MUI) Muhammad Cholil Nafis, S.Ag, MA, Ph.D, to give a sermon to all students present. He said that the younger generation needs to dedicate themselves in harmony to knowledge and religion, as servants of Allah who think and uphold faith. Starting with reading, then learning to understand the meaning and interpretation, then practicing Qur’anic behaviors in the community. According to him, Nuzulul Qur’an reminds Muslims of Iqra, therefore start loving the Qur’an by reading it slowly but consistently every day, especially in the month of Ramadan. “Prophet Muhammad SAW when meeting the angel Gabriel always recited verses of the Qur’an in the month of Ramadan. Prophet Muhammad SAW read and Gabriel listened, this is the most basic essence in studying the Qur’an. Because by reading, a person is able to develop his literacy skills, whatever the science he is studying,” he said. [UB PR/ Trans. Iir]
