UB Vaccines 5.000 Lecturers, Educational Staff and Retirees.

Universitas Brawijaya (UB) provides COVID-19 vaccination to 5,000 employees. Vaccine recipients consist of lecturers, educational staff, and retirees in UB. Vaccinations are held for a week, which is 9-16 March 2021, at the Samantha Krida building.

The Chief Executive of UB Covid-19 Vaccine, dr. Muhammad Anshory, Sp.PD said that the vaccination was carried out based on a government scheme. “The first stage for the health workers has been carried out, and now the second stage includes ASN and public servants, including teachers, lecturers, and educational staff,” he said.

During the week, the academic community will be divided into different groups and sessions to avoid crowds. Before receiving the vaccine, a screening was also carried out in the form of measuring blood pressure and body temperature, and filling in several questions related to current health conditions.

“Those who have not been vaccinated in the meantime are those who are pregnant and confirmed Covid-19 that is less than three months. Beside that, the vaccination participants must be healthy, meaning that they are not sick, such as fever, cough, runny nose, “explained dr. Anshory.

The type of vaccine given is the inactivated vaccine made by Sinovac in collaboration with PT Bio Farma. Each academic community will receive two vaccine injections within a susceptible injection interval of 14 days. Covid-19 vaccination involves many vaccinators from UB Medical Faculty, UB Hospital, and UB Clinic.

“With this vaccination, it is hoped that herd immunity or group immunity will be formed, so that together we can prevent the spread of Covid-19 and reduce the number of hospitalizations due to Covid-19,” he concluded. [Humas UB/ Trans. Iir]
