One of the forms of cooperation between Universitas Brawijaya (UB) and Baluran National Park (TN Baluran) is manifested in the Baluran Roadshow to Campus 2024 activity. This activity brought theme on the Use of Applied Technology in Wildlife Management of Baluran National Park on Wednesday (26/6) at the New Building of the Faculty of Agriculture (FP) Universitas Brawijaya (UB).
UB as a selected university to open the series of roadshows. This event aims to introduce the technology applied in the Caldera Expedition activities carried out by the Baluran National Park Office in 2023. The publication is expected to provide new insights for conservationists in future management. Prof. Mangku Purnomo as the Dean of FP UB welcomed this roadshow activity because it is a means of learning and best practice for students, especially in the field of forestry science which is the successor to the sustainability of National Parks in Indonesia.
The roadshow activity held at the New Building of the Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Brawijaya also featured an exhibition containing a collection of flora and fauna photos from Baluran National Park, documentary videos of the Caldera Expedition activities, various books on research and expedition results, to an exhibition of equipment used in animal monitoring such as camera traps, GPS collars, and drones used as the use of technology in conservation efforts carried out by Baluran National Park. In addition, the exhibition was also enlivened by the Forestry Student Study Group of Universitas Brawijaya who also displayed works in the form of training results and various inventory and map activities.
The event was welcomed with extraordinary enthusiasm from various participants who attended to enliven the Baluran Roadshow to Campus 2024. Participants who came did not only come from FP students, but also from various levels and other fields of education such as students from other faculties to doctoral program students. This activity also invited various agencies such as representatives from the management of Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park (TNBTS), lecturers, to high school students in Malang. The material presented became interesting questions from participants and visitors who were just looking at the photography collection. This is also the first time of FP UB Forestry Student Association (HMKT FP UB) activity to bring six relevant and valuable fields of science for the community that has a high conservationist spirit.
