
Rector of Universitas Brawijaya (UB) Prof. Widodo, S.Sc., M.Sc., Ph.D.Med.Sc signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Regent of Penajam Paser Utara Ir. H. Hamdam, at UB Guest House, Thursday (13/10/2022).
Ir. H. Hamdam said that this collaboration was related to the plan to develop Penajam Paser Utara Regency as the new National Capital City (IKN).
“Because it is still a development area, we want to work with universities that certainly have strong alumni or networks. We hope that there will be studies for the development of this new IKN,” he said.
The Rector welcomed this collaboration. He conveyed that the development of North Penajam Paser Regency needed fundamental preparations so that in the future indigenous people would not be displaced due to regional development.
“Like it or not, HR must be strong in competition, so HR development must be prioritized, as well as infrastructure related to HR,” said the Rector.
He added that regional regulations must be strengthened to protect the community so that local people have easy access to school. In addition, industrial development also needs special attention.
“UB is ready to implement this collaboration in many ways. We are ready to work together and grow together,” said the Rector.
Meanwhile the Dean of the Faculty of Administrative Sciences (FIA) Drs. Andy Fefta Wijaya, MDA., Ph.D said that the cooperation between UB and Penajam Paser Regency has been going on for a long time.
“Collaboration on human resource development has been carried out routinely. Currently, the focus will be on future planning studies. So that there will be a road map for Penajam Paser Utara where it will be directed and what the emphasis will be. FIA and experts at UB are ready to help plan it,” said Andy Fefta.
