UB : The 2024 State Univesrsity Student Selection is More Accountable and Fair

The student selection to enter state universities (PTN) in 2024 is accountable and fair with the aim of making prospective students more responsible in choosing study programs.

Vice Rector for Academic Affairs, Brawijaya University (UB), Prof. Dr. Ir. Imam Santoso, MP in Malang, Monday said that the systematic implementation of the 2024 PTN Student Selection (Selma) will be different, and SNBP participants who have passed the selection will no longer be able to register on the SNBT route and UB independent route.

“Every prospective student who is declared to have passed the achievement or report card selection (SNBP) in 2024, SNBP 2023, and SNMPTN 2022 next year will no longer be able to register at SNBT,” he said.

He explained that this rule meant that prospective students’ choices would be locked at SNMPTN. The assumption is that when he has made his choice on the SNBP and has passed, there will be consequences that must be taken.

“So SNBP cannot be used as a trial and error event. When it is accepted and it doesn’t match the study program, it ends up not being taken, which will affect the acceptance of SNBT and also the independent pathway,” said the former Dean of FTP.

Prof. Imam added, specifically for participants who passed the 2024 SNBP and resign, they could no longer register for UB independent selection that year.

“The percentage of people accepted for the SNBP route is very high or as much as 97 percent, however, some participants still draw back. Don’t waste this opportunity because there are other participant rights that should be accepted at SNBP,” he said.

Therefore, when registering for SNBP, the Guidance Counseling (BK) teacher has a very important role in directing abilities, interests and competitiveness.

“Everything has to be measured, even if it doesn’t fit perfectly, it has to be accepted,” he said.

Apart from the changes above, there are differences in the conditions for selecting study programs for the 2024 SNBT Route. SNBT Route participants are allowed to choose a maximum of 4 (four) study programs consisting of 2 (two) Academic (Bachelor) and 2 (two) Vocational Program choices (Diploma Three and Diploma Four/Applied Bachelor) with the conditions as in the following table.

First, participants who choose 1 study program option are free to choose any study program. For example, one Diploma Three, or one Diploma Four/Applied Bachelor Degree, or one Bachelor

Second, participants who choose 2 study program options are free to choose any program. For example, two Diplomas Three, or 2 Diplomas Four/Applied Bachelor, or 2 Bachelors, or 1 Diploma Three and 1 Diploma Four/Applied Bachelor, or 1 Diploma Three and 1 Bachelor, or 1 Diploma Four/Applied Bachelor and 1 Bachelor.

Third, participants who choose 3 study program options choose 2 academic programs and 1 vocational program or 1 academic program and 2 vocational programs. For example, 2 Diploma Three and 1 Bachelor, or 2 Diploma Four/Applied Bachelor and 1 Bachelor, or 1 Diploma Three and 1 Diploma Four/Applied Bachelor and 1 Bachelor, or 2 Bachelors and 1 Diploma Three, or 2 Bachelors and 1 Diploma Four /Applied Bachelor.

Fourth, participants who choose 4 study program options will choose 2 academic programs and 2 vocational programs, with a minimum of 1 Diploma Three program. For example, 2 Bachelors, 1 Diploma Three and 1 Diploma Four/Applied Bachelor, or 2 Bachelors and 2 Diploma Three
