Brawijaya University (UB) won two awards at the 2023 Higher Education, Research and Technology Award (Anugerah Diktiristek), namely Gold Winner for Best Cooperation with Government and NGOs, and Bronze Winner for Social Media. This award was given at the Anugerah Diktiristek evening, Wednesday (13/02/2023), at Sheraton Grand Jakarta Gandaria City Hotel.
Present to receive this award were the Vice Rector for Planning, Cooperation and Internationalization, Andi Kurniawan, S.Pi., M.Eng.D.Sc and the Head of the Information and Public Relations Division, Zulfaidah Penata Gama, S.Si., M.Sc., Ph .D.
Andi explained that this award was to evaluate UB’s superior collaboration program with the government and NGOs proposed by UB.
Through the Chancellor’s direction, the Cooperation Team optimizes the cooperation program that has been carried out by UB. Some of the superior cooperation programs presented in the proposal that led to this victory were the Student Build Village (MMD) program, UB Forest development, and campus area development.
“When presenting the proposal, we explained that UB was serious about collaborating with the government in East Java for the implementation of MMD, namely with the Ministry of Environment, Ministry of Home Affairs, Ministry of Village Development, Pangdam, and East Java Regional Police. It is impossible for MMD, which was attended by 14 thousand students in 1,000 villages, to be realized without including strategic programs from the central government,” he explained.
In the proposal, he also explained UB Forest’s collaboration with NGOs and non-governmental organizations, community groups, and the central government, as well as campus development cooperation with regional governments.
“Our next target is DUDI. Because in terms of cooperation criteria, besides government, there is also industry. We will collaborate with the Vice Rector for Academic Affairs to look for comparative advantages and best practices in UB as UB’s brand image,” he explained.
Meanwhile, Zulfaidah said that winning in the Social Media category for PTNBH was one step towards improving quality.
“This award was obtained because our social media is developing, there is an increase in the number of followers, it has a blue tick, and from the results of the survey we conducted, the majority of social media users already understand that our social media account is an official UB account, so when there are other social media using UB name they often don’t believe in the information conveyed by social media,” said Zulfaidah.
The assessment in the social media category was carried out through report reviews and interviews with six judges who were national PR and Communications practitioners.
“When the presentation was delivered, UB’s social media always provided up to date information, had a plan for what content would be delivered this week, and had targets to be achieved,” she explained.
Zulfaidah hopes that UB’s social media and other programs in UB Public Relations Subdivision can further develop innovation, because what is valued is Public Relations’ efforts in providing information or publications to the media. The jury definitely wanted more than what was delivered the previous year.
