The Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Brawijaya (FK UB) has finally released the establishment of the Emergency Medicine Specialist Study Program (PSEM). FK UB is the only university in Indonesia that has PSEM. The launching of the establishment of PSEM was carried out in the Senate Room on the 9th floor of Joint Education Building of FK UB, Wednesday (8/6/2022).
In his speech, the Dean of FK UB Dr.dr.Wisnu Barlianto, M.Si.Med., SpA(K) said that PSEM is very necessary, especially in countries that are included in disaster-prone areas, such as Indonesia.
“Indonesia is an archipelagic country that often occurs in disasters, so it requires the role of specialist doctors who specialize in treating emergency patients,” he said.
Wisnu said that actually PSEM has been opened since 2003 through UB Rector’s Decree, but since there are several obstacles, in 2021 there will only be a recommendation from LAM PT KES for the opening of UB EM Specialist Study Program.
Meanwhile, UB Rector Prof.Dr.Ir.Nuhfil Hanani, A.R., M.S., hopes that in the future the Faculty of Medicine can become big so that it can become a world-class university.
“My dream is that one day FK can become a world-class university. Hopefully, through the establishment of SPEM, we can encourage projections not only for Indonesia but also internationally. I am very proud and I hope it can be developed later and the standard is internationalized,” he said.
The handover ceremony of the Rector’s Decree regarding the permit for the Establishment of the Emergency Medicine PS PDS was also attended by the Deputy Director of Education and Professional Development of Dr. Saiful Anwar Hospital dr. Mochamad Bachtiar Budianto, SpB(K)Onk, Director of UB Hospital Prof. dr. Sri Andarini, M.Kes, and a number of UB FK collegiums. (OKY/Humas UB/ Trans. Iir).
