UB Earth and Disaster Mitigation Study Center Conducts Disaster Risk Assessment in Anambas Islands

Center for Earth and Disaster Mitigation Studies Universitas Brawijaya (UB) visited Anambas Islands Regency, Riau Islands in the context of Disaster Risk Assessment (KRB).

The activity was carried out for four days (20-24/07/2022), with the agenda of mapping the Disaster Risk Assessment to the related SKPD in the Anambas Islands Regency. In addition, direct visits to the field were carried out with the aim of making observations in disaster-prone areas.

“We visited areas prone to flooding, landslides, and extreme weather. Such as Batu Belah Village and Nyamuk Village, East Siantan District, Air Bini Village, South Siantan District, as well as Putik Village and Matak Village, Palmatak District via land and sea routes using speed boats,” explained Team Leader Dr. Eng Fadly Usman ST., MT.

During this visit, Dr. Eng Fadly Usman, ST., MT. from the Department of Urban and Regional Planning, FT-UB, accompanied by civil geology experts, Prof. Drs. Adi Susilo, M.Sc., Ph.D (Geophysics Study Program, FMIPA UB), Geographic Information System expert Seftiawan Samsu Rijal, S.Si., M.Sc (Department of Marine Science FPIK UB), Socio-Cultural expert Ns. Mukhamad Fathoni, S.Kep., M.NS (Department of Nursing FIKES UB), as well as surveyors supporting staff Fadhilatus Shoimah, ST., M.PWK and drafter Affriza Eka Satria, ST.

During the activity, the team also met and discussed with the Regent of Anambas Islands Regency Abdul Haris, SH., Deputy Regent Wan Suhendra, Regional Secretary Sahtiar, SH., MM., as well as the Head of BPBD for Anambas Islands Regency Syarif Ahmad, SE and the team.

From the meeting, the Anambas Islands Regency Government stated that it fully supports KRB conducted by UB Center for Earth and Disaster Mitigation Studies by synergizing related SKPD & OPD, so that disaster management can be handled properly. [Fat/Irene/ Humas UB/ Trans. Iir]
