Introducing Internet Engineer, FILKOM Holds APIE

6th Asian Pacific Internet Engineering (APIE) Camp

The Faculty of Computer Science, Universitas Brawijaya (FILKOM UB) hosted the 6th Asian Pacific Internet Engineering Camp (APIE). This activity is a routine event organized by the APIE community whose members consist of campuses in Asia, one of which is UB. This activity lasted for five days starting from Monday (2/9/2025) to Saturday (2/15/2024). This activity was attended by participants from various campuses selected from previous activities.

The activity which lasted for five days was filled with material based on the predetermined curriculum. Based on the statement of Dr. Kasyful Amron, S.T., M.Sc. as the Deputy Chairperson of the Executive Committee and also UB Lecturer, stated that the difference in APEI activities from year to year lies in the content contained in its curriculum. “There is a basic curriculum that must be delivered, we also invite experts as speakers in this event.” he explained.

The Chairperson of the Executive Committee, Achmad Basuki, S.T., MMG., Ph.D, who is UB Lecturer stated that UB’s contribution in organizing this event not only involved selected students but also UB Filkom Lecturers who already have a lot of experience. He said that this activity was motivated by the lack of interest as an internet engineer from the younger generation. “We are trying to bring it (internet engineer) closer to young people, because in the future with increasingly sophisticated technological advances it will be a problem if there is no regeneration,” he said. This is quite a concern for every country in the Asia Pacific. “Hopefully this activity will become sufficient provision when entering the world of work,” he added.

This series of activities was closed with a group presentation on the material studied and a product design or idea obtained after attending all sessions. Then followed by the return of the delegates. (dzila/VQ/UB PR. Trans. Iir)
