Universitas Brawijaya (UB) held an Open Plenary Session of the Board of Trustees (MWA) at the Samantha Krida Building, Sunday (5/1/2025).
Also present in this plenary session were Prof. dr. Moh. Saifur Rohman, Sp.JP(K)., Ph.D as the deputy chairman of the MWA, Mahfud MD, Minister of Communication and Digital (Mekomdigi) Meutya Hafid, the ranks of rectors, vice rectors and deans of each faculty.
In his remarks, Prof. dr. Moh. Saifur Rohman, Sp.JP(K)., Ph.D who is the deputy chairman of the MWA and Deputy Dean for Academic Affairs of the Faculty of Medicine said that it is a challenge for state universities to contribute so that cooperation from all parties is needed, and requires the creation of a sustainable system.
“By working together, we join hands to always create a sustainable system to improve achievements and utilize existing potential,” he said.
Prof. Saifur Rohman, added that all of this must be supported by a governance system that continues to be improved and perfected so that it can become an autonomous and self-directed university.
The Chancellor of Universitas Brawijaya, Prof. Widodo, S.Si., M.Si., Ph.D.Med.Sc. in the Chancellor’s performance report explained that entering its 62nd year, UB continues to show its acceleration so that it has an impact on the confirmation of UB’s accreditation at the national and international levels. According to him, UB must continue to learn and be alert in responding to changes in times.
“UB continues to strengthen its institutions and continues to learn in order to be alert in responding to changes and competition. Global orientation must remain rooted in local characteristics as a principal strength for UB’s existence,” he said.
In addition, what has been achieved by UB must be a spur to greater enthusiasm to become more agile, more persistent in achieving.
In his speech, the rector also explained that synergistic governance and cooperation of the academic community are also important in contributing to realize UB’s ideals.
The activity was also filled with the presentation of Brawijaya Bakti Adiguna award, to scientific orations by Prof. Dr. Asfi Manzilati., S.E., M.E and Meutya Hafid.
The Brawijaya Bakti Adiguna Award for the Religious Moderation Category was given to Prof. Dr. Thohir Luth, MA (FH); Research Category: Prof. Drs. Sutiman Bambang Sumitro, SU., D.Sc (FMIPA); and Community Service Category: Ir. Sukandar, MP (FPIK). (ROM/UB PR/ Trans. Iir).
