UB Collaborates with RSSA in Assisting Community Affected the Mount Semeru Eruption

Water Tank Assistance from UB to Help the Availability of Clean Water

Universitas Brawijaya (UB) together with Syaiful Anwar Hospital (RSSA) deploy the health team and support team to help community affected by the Mount Semeru Eruption. The team has departed on Saturday (5/12/2021) and is planned for the next 30 days to be in Pronojiwo, Lumajang Regency.

The Head of Emergency Medical Team, dr. Aurick Yudha Nagara, SpEM said that before being deployed to the field, the team carried out a Rapid Health Assessment to identify the needs needed by the people affected of Mount Semeru Eruption.

“Until Tuesday (7/11/2021), two groups have been deployed to the location. Each group consists of five health workers, six students, and more than 10 support personnel. For the health team, we are targeting some areas that are very affected. Some residents are currently experiencing fever, respiratory problems or ARI, and diarrhea. So, we also provide medicines for the disease,” he said.

In addition to the health workers, Aurick also explained that there was also a support team involved. One of them is from the general division of Rectorate that sends water tanker trucks to distribute clean water for residents.

“Moreover, UB forest team also helps carry out logistics distribution to several residents’ areas so that there is no accumulation at one point,” he said.

Meanwhile, the support team from Urban Regional Planning Study Program which was chaired by Adipandang Yudono. S.Si., MURP uses a Geographic Information System (GIS) to provide data related to the area affected by the Mount Semeru Eruption which will be received by the team via satellite.
