Universitas Brawijaya (UB) in collaboration with Indonesian Higher Education Archives Association (PAPTI) held the 3rd PAPTI Insight Meeting. This activity was held right on PAPTI’s 4th birthday, on Wednesday (21/04/2021). Held online, this activity was attended by the General Chairperson of PAPTI, Prof. Dr. Nandang Alamsah Deliarnoor, S.H. M.Hum, Secretary of PAPTI, Sandi Ruswandi, ST., MM, the Coordinator of the Central Archives Substance Group III-ANRI, Dra. Sulistyowati, MM, PAPTI Honorary Council, as well as PAPTI members from various universities in Indonesia.
Sub-Coordinator for Archives and Public Relations Section, Kotok Gurito, SE, in his remarks said that UB Archives Center, which was just formed in 2015, has the enthusiasm to develop quality archiving management. “One of them is by learning a lot from ANRI, universities that already have archival institutions, as well as participating in discussion forums with university archive networks such as PAPTI insight meeting, so that in the future we hope it can develop into a good archival institution,” he said.
The speakers were Muhammad Rosyihan Hendrawan, S.IP., M.Hum with the material “Organizational Memory and Memory Organization: Development and Strategic Roles in Higher Education”.
Rosyihan conveyed that university heritage or in Indonesia is called Organizational Memory and memory organization must exist in every university, because it is a process to achieve what is the goal of the university.
“Organizational Memory and Memory Organization become the backbone of UB to achieve a ranking, certification, or vision to become a World Class University. But that is not the only goal, yet we can maintain and get to know the identity UB through the memory organization itself, “explained this Lecturer of Library Science, Faculty of Administration Science.
He continued, organizational memory managers must know the organization’s business processes and be able to apply professional knowledge skills to meet organizational needs. As well as being able to identify information as an asset / resource of the organization, and to assess the information generated by and used by the organization. They are, manager / record manager, archivist, and librarian.
“Organizational memory managers must focus on improving professional competence, be able to adapt to technology, and utilize the convergence principle and strategic management. In the future, UB must be able to build convergence and integration of memory organizations owned, such as libraries, archives, and museums, in order to achieve democratic, economic and integrative principles, “he explained.
On the occasion, the General Chairperson of PAPTI, Prof. Dr. Nandang Alamsah Deliarnoor, S.H. M.Hum appreciates UB’s involvement in PAPTI activities even though the archival institution is still newly formed and has just become a member of PAPTI.
“PAPTI is very open to any institution that manages archives, and even opens individual memberships. Hopefully this gathering can be a place to share knowledge, “said Nandang.
PAPTI has members from the Higher Education Archives Institute and individuals who are archiving practitioners. Some of the member universities include UI, UPI, UNAIR, UNPAD, and UGM. The first PAPTI insight meeting has been conducted in collaboration with the Indonesian Education University, and the second with Gadjah Mada University.
