UB and the Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs and Investment Sign Memorandum of Understanding for the Development of Maritime and Education

UB and the Indonesian Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs and Investment signed a memorandum of understanding

Brawijaya University (UB) and the Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs and Investment of the Republic of Indonesia established cooperation through the signing of a memorandum of understanding which was held in the Meeting Room, 8th Floor of Brawijaya University Rectorate Building on Thursday (22/02/2024). The event was attended by a number of high-ranking officials from UB, including the Rector, Expert Staff of the Vice Rector for Planning, Director of the Directorate of Cooperation and Internationalization, Vice Dean for Academic Affairs FPIK, lecturer staff, as well as a team from the Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs and Investment and their staff.

In his speech, UB Rector, Prof. Widodo emphasized the importance of this collaboration, both in formal and informal forms. He hopes that this collaboration can help develop Brawijaya University campus as a whole. It was also emphasized that UB has a Fisheries and Marine Sciences faculty, an advantage that many institutions in Indonesia do not have.

“Indonesia’s maritime potential must be supported by adequate technology and knowledge, and this collaboration is expected to be the first step to optimize this potential,” added Prof. Widodo.

Meanwhile, Vice Dean for Academic Affairs, Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences, Prof. Dr. Sc. Asep Awaludin Prihanto, S.Pi., M.P., explained that this memorandum of understanding is the basis for cooperation between UB and the Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs and Investment in improving student competency through the Independent Learning Independent Campus (MBKM).

“This collaboration is not only limited to the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences, but also includes all faculties in UB. Future plans initiated are expanding the collaboration by involving other faculties, so that UB’s contribution is not only limited to the field of education, but also to research and community service. “said Prof. Asep.

The hope of this collaboration is the implementation of sustainable education every year. If there is a request, we will send MBKM. It is also hoped that this collaboration can develop even more widely, not only providing benefits for UB, but also for the Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs and Investment in general, as well as contributing to the country’s whole development.
