Universitas Brawijaya (UB) held a Bioinformatics Workshop with Indraprastha Institute of Information Technology Delhi (IIIT-Delhi), India. The activity, which was carried out in a hybrid manner, lasted for five days, Monday-Friday (11-15/11/2024), in the Academic Senate Meeting Room and was attended by students and lecturers from three different departments, namely Biology, Electrical Engineering, and Informatics Engineering.
This workshop presented Dr. Jaspreet Kaur Dhanjal and her team from IIIT-Delhi as the main speakers. With her expertise in bioinformatics, Dr. Jaspreet and team provided material on the latest methods in biological data analysis, machine learning applications, and collaborative research strategies to solve complex challenges in modern biology.

“The main objective of this event is to strengthen research in the field of bioinformatics while encouraging cross-disciplinary involvement to produce comprehensive research. We want students and lecturers from various fields to be able to collaborate productively,” said Cries Avian, S.T., M.T, one of UB Electrical Engineering Lecturers.
On this occasion, participants took part in interactive sessions, case studies, and direct practice using bioinformatics software. The presence of students and lecturers from three different departments gave their own color to the discussions that took place, creating new perspectives in facing bioinformatics challenges.
“The collaboration between UB and IIIT-Delhi is expected to be the beginning of collaboration in the fields of education and research, especially bioinformatics.
