Brawijaya University (UB) and the Directorate General of Intellectual Property (DJKI) of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights collaborate to organize Patent One Stop Service (POSS) activities to increase domestic patent applications. This activity was carried out online for nine days, 21-29 February 2024, through the zoom platform.
This activity provides the opportunity for lecturers to conduct direct consultations regarding their patent drafts with DJKI patent examiners. DJKI patent examiners will examine and provide direct input on the submitted patent application.
Director of the Directorate of Innovation and Science and Technology Areas (DIKST) UB Mohammad Iqbal, S.Sos., M.IB., DBA said, POSS aims at increasing domestic patent settlement and increase understanding, especially for academics, about the patent process and protection of intellectual property rights .

“In addition, it also makes it easier for inventors, especially UB lecturers, to obtain granted patents for their inventions. With direct support from DJKI, inventors can perfect their patent drafts in accordance with established standards, so that the registered patents are expected to be granted,” explained Iqbal.
There were 100 patent titles that passed for assessment in this activity from various universities in East Java. Namely UB 33 titles, ITS 8 titles, ITN 3 titles, UNESA 8 titles, PENS 4 titles, Polinema 3 titles, UM 17 titles, UNAIR 14 titles, Univ Petra 3 titles, Unmer 2 titles, UMM 2 titles, Unikama 1 title, UPN Veteran 2 titles.
A total of 33 titles from UB are submissions from UB inventors consisting of several faculties and fields of study, namely from the faculty of animal husbandry 2 titles, Faculty of health sciences 2 titles, faculty of medicine 8 titles, faculty of dentistry 2 titles, faculty of agriculture 4 titles, faculty of fisheries and marine sciences 6 titles, faculty of engineering 1 title , and faculty of agricultural technology 8 titles.
After the online activities were closed, offline activities will be scheduled for April 23-25 2024 at the East Java Ministry of Law and Human Rights Regional Office in Surabaya.
