
Universitas Brawijaya (UB) and the East Java Communication and Information Service (Diskominfo) collaborated to realize digital transformation in East Java through an activity themed “Digital East Java 2024 to 2026: Stepping Together for East Java to Go Global” which was held at Harris Hotel & Conventions, Malang, Tuesday (1/21/2024).
In the event, Deputy Chairperson of UB AI Center, Dr. Raden Arif Setyawan, explained the artificial intelligence (AI) technology innovation developed by UB. One of its flagship programs is AI for Security to combat online gambling.
“AI technology can also be applied in everyday life, such as monitoring campus traffic through CCTV cameras,” explained Dr. Arief.

“AI is able to count the number of vehicles entering and exiting, to recognizing the types of vehicles that often pass by. This technology provides important data for better campus management,” said Dr. Arief.
The Director of DIKST, Mohammad Iqbal, also explained UB’s strategic role in managing innovation and the development of the Science and Technology area.
“DIKST UB is tasked with managing innovation, supporting new entrepreneurs, and building a science and technology area that can become a center for collaboration,” he said.
This event is an important moment to strengthen collaboration between UB and the local government in realizing digital transformation in East Java.
