UB and the Directorate of Higher Education Open Opportunity to Study Abroad

Universitas Brawijaya (UB) and the Directorate of Higher Education (Dikti) open wide opportunities for students in fourth to seven semesters to study at a number of foreign universities that are included in the QS100.

In the socialization which was held via zoom, Saturday (15/5/2021) Karuniawan Puji Wicaksono, PhD explained that Indonesia International Students Mobility Award (IISMA) is an international mobility program for Indonesian students that opens opportunities for students from universities in Indonesia to take part in the learning process at a number of reputable universities in the world.

The objectives of IISMA include improving students’ cross-cultural knowledge, soft skills, and understanding, opening opportunities for students to get to know and learn about the latest science and technology and to prepare high-quality, open-minded, and experienced global college graduates who are ready to face the challenges of revolution industry 4.0 and society 5.0.

“IISMA can be participated by students in the fourth to seventh semesters who will later select 1000 students from all over Indonesia to take the offline lecture system at universities in Southeast Asia, Europe and even the United States,” he said.

The IISMA requirements are Indonesian citizens and domiciled in Indonesia, registered at the domestic university of origin of the student, currently studying in semesters 4-7 in the undergraduate program, have the ability to speak English as evidenced by the minimum official IELTS score: 6.0, TOEFL IBT: 78, Duolingo English Test: 100, or TOEFL ITP: 550 which is still valid on May 16, 2021.

In addition, prospective participants have never received other foreign student exchange scholarships, and are willing to follow the applicable rules and regulations set by the Ministry of Education and Culture while participating in this program.

Meanwhile, the registration and acceptance time for files will be opened on 10-22 May 2021, student selection and interviews will be conducted on 23-25 ​​May 2021, announcements of students who have passed IISMA program on May 28, 2021, preparation for departure in June-July, and August / September is the process of departure to abroad university.

To participate in this program, participants must follow the technical registration as follows; filling out a complete written application, scholarship applicants must complete the documents when applying on the website provided, including a recommendation letter from the original university, proof of citizenship (photocopy of identity card / passport / birth certificate) , a letter of recommendation from the origin university (ISO GOOGLE FORM), as well as the latest bakadenik transcript from the origin university.

Vice Rector for Academic Affairs, Prof. Dr. Aulanni’am, drh., DES said the activity was aimed at international student mobility despite of the pandemic.

“Students can get the opportunity to study in an extraordinary overseas campus and UB is ready to help students who will join this IISMA program,” he said.
