UB and Densus 88 Declare the Anti-Radicalism

“We, the whole community and students of Universitas Brawijaya reject the notion of intolerance, radicalism and terrorism at Universitas Brawijaya. NKRI is Dead Price,” said the Student Executive President, Muhammad Nurcholis Mahendra, Thursday (30/6/2022) in the Nuswantara hall of FISIP UB.

This declaration was also followed by its pronunciation by all elements presented starting from the Rector of Universitas Brawijaya, Prof. Widodo S.Si., M.Si., Ph.D.Med.Sc, Dean of FISIP UB, Dr Sholih Muadi SH., M.Si, Director of Detachment 88 Prevention Kombes Tubagus Ami Prindani, Chief of Malang City Police Kombes Budi Hermanto and other invited guests.

In addition to making a pledge, all components including representatives of student organizations throughout Universitas Brawijaya also signed as a form of commitment that UB is free from radicalism and terrorism.

This declaration is part of the discussion of cooperation between FISIP UB and Densus 88 which is also held on the same day.

Director of Detachment 88 Prevention, Kombes Tubagus Ami Prindani said that Universitas Brawijaya could be the first campus to collaborate with Densus 88, especially in the prevention aspect.

“Right now, we are still discussing it because there will be language and sentences that we will improve. But if FISIP will spread it to other faculties in UB. So, if this is successful, we will bring the concept of cooperation to other campuses,” he said.

Regarding the case of the arrested UB students some time ago, Kombes Tubagus Ami Prindani believes that the campus has taken precautions.

“Every time we come to campus, not necessarily someone has been exposed to radicalism. But we also take an approach so that no one is exposed to this notion,” he explained.

Meanwhile, UB Rector, Prof. Widodo S.Si., M.Si., Ph.D.Med.Sc appreciates the declaration. He emphasized that UB will focus on helping Densus 88, especially on the Tri Dharma of Higher Education, such as research and community service.

“In campus, of course, we will focus on character education for students. Many forms can be included in the curriculum or daily life debriefing and especially ways of thinking,” he said.

Furthermore, the Dean of FISIP UB, Dr. Sholih Muadi SH M.Si, explained that preventing radicalism can later be included in the non-credit course curriculum. “Of course, if you include credits, there will be a lot of variables,” he said.

The cooperation of UB, especially FISIP with Densus 88 can also be done with the Independent Learning Independent Campus Program (MBKM).

“The program allows internship, facilitated by Densus 88, to learn how to prevent terrorism on campus,” said Sholih Muadi.

Sholih hopes that with the possibility of cooperation between FISIP UB and Densus 88, people can also judge that Densus 88 is not only about arrests but also in prevention. (Humas FISIP/Humas UB/ Trans. Iir)
