The Accounting Department, Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Brawijaya (FEB UB) and the Accounting Department, Faculty of Business and Economics, Universiti Malaya (FBE UM) held the Brawijaya International Conference in Accounting, Finance, and Capital Market (BICAF) 2024, Saturday, (19/10/2024), at the Universiti Malaya campus. This joint international conference is an implementation of the DOKAR (Lecturer Works) 2024 grant, which is a joint activity with foreign universities that are included in the QS100 university ranking. Universiti Malaya, Malaysia, is ranked 60th in the world.
With the theme “Strengthening Governance and Nurturing Investment Atmosphere in the Global Economic Turmoil,” BICAF 2024 presents a number of leading experts and academics from various countries to discuss strategic issues related to governance and investment climate amidst global economic uncertainty. The conference was led by the Chief Organizer from UB, Prof. Nurkholis.
The opening ceremony of the conference presented two keynote speakers, namely Noval Adib, Ph.D. from Universitas Brawijaya, who presented the topic of Behavioral Finance—discussing how human behavior influences financial decisions in an era full of uncertainty.
Meanwhile, Datin Assoc. Prof. Izlin binti Ismail from Universiti Malaya delivered material on Carbon Trading and Global Climate Change, discussing the role of carbon trading in mitigating climate change and its impact on the global economy. Acting as moderator was Dr. Mohd Haniff Zainuldin from the Department of Accounting, FBE UM.
This conference is an important event for academics, practitioners, and regulators to exchange views and insights regarding the challenges faced in managing investments and strengthening corporate governance amidst the economic turmoil that is occurring in various parts of the world.
Prof. Nurkholis, as the conference chair, said that BICAF 2024 aims to provide a constructive discussion platform for researchers and practitioners in the fields of accounting, finance, and capital markets.
“We hope that this conference can make a real contribution in answering global challenges related to better governance and a conducive investment climate,” said Prof. Nurkholis.
With the presence of speakers and participants from various countries, BICAF 2024 is expected to be a bridge to strengthen international collaboration in research and policy development in the fields of accounting, finance, and capital markets, especially in facing increasingly complex global challenges.
