Universitas Brawijaya (UB) carries out collaborative Community Service (KKN) in 2020 together with UGM, ITB and the Enabling Humanitarian Attributes for Nurturing Community based Engineering (ENHANCE) Team. ENHANCE is a collaborative project coordinated by University of Warwick (UoW) United Kingdom and funded by Erasmus + project (European Commission). This collaborative KKN activity was initiated when the ENHANCE activity was carried out through the Practice Dialogue Workshop at UGM and ITB last year, which was held starting on June 24, 2020, and ended on August 14, 2020.

Initially, this collaborative KKN activity was planned to be attended by students from UB, ITB and UoW to carry out KKN activities located in Hargowilis village, Hargotirto, and Seyegan District (Sleman Regency) Yogyakarta. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, there has been a change in the mechanism to become a full online KKN which is attended by 19 students from UB, 9 students from ITB and 41 students from UGM.

This online KKN activity is the first KKN activity initiated by UGM in history.

From Universitas Brawijaya, there are 19 students who take part in the collaborative KKN activities from the Department of Agricultural Industrial Technology, Physics, Law Studies, and are dominated by the Department of Regional and Urban Planning.

During the activity, students are also accompanied by a team of lecturers who are involved in LPPM-UB Doctor Serve (DM) activity which is coordinated by Irnia Nurika, STP, MP, Ph.D (FTP) and several other lecturers including Dr. Techn. Christia Meidiana, ST., M.Eng. (FT), Adipandang Yudono, S.Si., MURP., Ph.D. (FT), Sri Suhartini, STP., M.env.Mgt., Ph.D (FTP) and Dodi Wirawan Irawanto, SE. MCom. Ph.D (FEB).

Based on the strategic issues, potentials and problems had by the KKN area, UB students carry out four main program initiations, which are Making Hargotirto Tourism Village Masterplan, Making Hargowilis Tourism Village Masterplan, Making Margoagung Tourism Village Masterplan, and Higher Education Socialization activities (where this program has two main activities, that are providing information about the importance of continuing to higher education and English Language Education).

Students also take part in a series of activities starting from providing briefing about KKN for Doctor Serve(LPPM-UB), the release of UGM KKN students (as the host of this year’s activity), and taking an active role in mediation with the community and related institutions in the KKN area, as well as progress assistance of the KKN program with supervisors, until the final presentation of the output of this collaborative KKN activity with the community and village officials, in which the two KKN areas gave positive responses and appreciation for the hard work and results of this activity. According to Irnia Nurika, as the coordinator of the Enhance Team from UB, next year’s plan (2021) the activity will be held / coordinated by ITB and in 2022 UB will be the host.
