Universitas Brawijaya (UB) participated in the annual summit of higher education institutions in the Asia Pacific region, QS Higher Ed Summit; Asia Pacific 2024 on (6/11–8/11/2024) in Macau. The summit was attended by delegates from universities from the Asia Pacific region who were present to meet and discuss issues in higher education that are faced together. UB delegation consisted of 7 people and was led directly by the Vice Rector for Academic Affairs, Prof. Imam Santoso. At the meeting, UB delegation also held an education exhibition by occupying a strategic space that received wide attention from all delegates from universities in the Asia Pacific.
In this meeting and exhibition, besides attending the main sessions organized by QS, UB delegation also took the opportunity to meet with representatives from various universities in the Asia Pacific. In the exhibition hall, UB also received visits from many delegations of participating universities to establish direct communication and sign a memorandum of understanding (MOU) in student and staff exchange programs, joint research, scientific publications, and guest lecturer opportunities from partner institutions.
Vice Rector, Prof. Imam Santoso, said that UB’s participation in the QS Higher Ed Summit: Asia Pacific 2024 was an important step to build a wider international network and strengthen UB’s position on the global stage. “By attending this forum, we hope to continue to improve the quality of education, research, and UB’s contribution on an international scale,” said Prof. Imam.
The main discussions at the event covered various topics, ranging from the integration of sustainable development goals into the university curriculum, the importance of international collaboration in improving the quality of education, to the use of new technologies such as artificial intelligence in learning. In addition, the summit also raised discourse on strategies to create a lifelong learning ecosystem that supports the long-term development of students and staff. The issue of increasing global engagement was also highlighted, discussing how universities can expand their reach and impact through various strategic collaborations.
Universitas Brawijaya’s participation in this prestigious event not only confirms its commitment to improving the quality of education, but also paves the way for broader cooperation in capacity development, innovation, and research for the advancement of higher education in Indonesia and the Asia Pacific.
