A total of 25 Universitas Brawijaya (UB) students from five faculties were sent on Monday (10/21/2024) to participate in the Indonesian Ship Competition (KKI) at Surabaya State Polytechnic. The delegates will compete in five categories, namely Design and Construction Innovation, Special Equipment Design, Machinery Design, Autonomous Surface Vessel, and Fuel Engine Remote Control.

Vice Rector for Student Affairs, Alumni and Student Entrepreneurship Dr. Setiawan Noerdajasakti, SH., MH when sending off the departure gave motivation that there needs to be perseverance, cooperation, and solidarity with each other to get what is expected. This is reflected in previous competitions where UB managed to win the championship.
“All of this is nothing more and nothing less than thanks to our perseverance and solidarity together so that we can achieve what we expect. Therefore, in this KKI I advise that let us all take part in this competition seriously, with high spirits, and the team must be united,” said Setiawan Noerdajasakti.

In facing the competition which will be held on 23-28 October 2024, each team has made various preparations. Expert Staff of Vice Rector III, Dr. Eng. Abu Bakar Sambah, S.Pi., MT on this occasion said that the preparations were quite mature. The contingent has trained intensively.
“Alhamdulillah, the preparations have been carried out by each team. Every few days we carry out activities for testing in Pakis and several times in the Dieng valley,” he said.
Adding in terms of related competitions, prototypes like in KKI do require more effort not only in terms of competence but also in terms of funding. This is what he thinks needs to be evaluated in the future. [Romi/Irene/UB PR/ Trans. Iir]
