He said that this number has increased compared to last year which only reached 1,400 KIP recipients.

Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs, Alumni and Student Entrepreneurship, Dr. Setiawan Noerdajasakti, SH., MH. said that although KIP is a financial assistance, its essence is no different from a scholarship since if you get it, you will not be able to get a scholarship from another source.

“There are a lot of scholarship offers coming into UB. There are around 70 scholarship sources. The sources of scholarship providers vary from the government (Ministry of Education), provincial government, district government, city government, foundations, companies and others,” he said.

He added that there are various sources of scholarship funds. The source of company scholarship funds is from Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). While government scholarship funds come from community taxes. Therefore, KIP recipient students must be able to manage the financial assistance they receive responsibly since it is a mandate from the people.

“The source of funds that comes from people’s taxes must be managed responsibly since it is a mandate. People pay taxes to the state. The state uses it for development and education,” he said.

Meanwhile, one of the KIP recipients, Muhammad Abiyasa from the Faculty of Law, said that the educational assistance he received would be used for academic activities and daily living expenses. Meanwhile a KIP recipient from FIA, Putri said that she would use the KIP assistance funds to pay off a laptop for college. (OKY/UB PR/ Trans. Iir).
