UB Seven Subjects Achieve Top THE Ranking

At the end of October 2020, THE released another top ranking of world universities based on subject (field of science) or THE World University Ranking 2021 by Subjects.

UB is included in the ranking for 7 of 11 existing subjects, which are:

First, Ranking 601+ in the field of Business and Economics;

Second, Ranking 601+ in the fields of Clinical, Pre-Clinical, and Health;

Third, Ranking 801+ in the field of Computer Science;

Fourth, Ranking 1001+ in the field of Engineering and Technology;

Fifth, Rank 801+ in the field of Life Sciences;

Sixth, Ranking 1001+ in the field of Physical Sciences;

Fourth, Ranking 601+ in the field of Social Sciences;

This achievement was much better than the previous year, from 3 subjects to 7 subjects.

The increasing indicators in the field of Industrial Income, is one of the factors that encourage Clinical and Health UB to enter the 601+ rankings.

In this field, UB is in the second place along with two other universities which are in the second rank (601+) after UI (301-400).

Meanwhile, for the field of Business and Economics, UB is in third place (601+) along with four other universities after UGM and UI (501-600).

For the field of Computer Science, UB is in the 5th place (801+). For the field of Engineering and Technology, UB is in the 6th place (1001+) along with two other universities.

For the field of Life Sciences, UB is in 3rd place (801+) along with four other universities.

For the field of Physical Sciences, UB is in the 4th place (1001+) along with two other universities.

What should be proud again is the entry of the field of Social Sciences as one of the fields of science of Universitas Brawijaya which is included in the list of top universities by subject.

UB is in 2nd place (601+) along with two other universities after UI (501-600). So far, UB’s international ranking is dominated by the fields of science, technology, and health.

UB Rector, Prof. Nuhfil Hanani, is grateful for this achievement and appreciates the hard work of the entire UB academic community.

“The ranking criteria cover most aspects of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education, which means that Universitas Brawijaya is currently able to show its quality as one of the best universities in the world, especially in these seven fields.

This is also in line with UB vision as a higher education institution with international reputation, ”he said.

Nuhfil also hopes that this achievement will continue to be improved so that UB can achieve a better ranking. It is also hoped that in the coming years there will be additions from other fields that are not yet ranked, which are Art and Humanity, Education, Psychology, and Law.

The Vice Rector for Academic Affairs, Prof. Aulanni’am, who is also one of the innovators in the health sector, said that this achievement should make UB more confident to collaborate with the pharmaceutical industry by harmonizing with industry to carry out translational research.

The key to this achievement is the increased publication of international scientific papers, international cooperation and industrial cooperation, “concluded Aulanni’am.

Meanwhile, in September 2020, Universitas Brawijaya was declared as one of the top universities according to the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Ranking 2021 along with seven universities in Indonesia.

Universitas Brawijaya is in 3rd place for universities from Indonesia in the ranking list issued by THE for 1500 universities from 93 eligible countries.
