Eid is a place to stay in touch with family, relatives, friends and neighbors.

One of the most awaited things during Eid is visiting family or neighbors’ homes to stay in touch and taste the dishes that have been served.

Eid dishes are identical to foods that contain high fat, carbohydrates, cholesterol, and sugar, such as ketupat, opor ayam, rendang, various types of pastries, and fruit ice.

Nutrition expert from the Faculty of Health Sciences (FIKES) UB, Leny Budhi Harti, S.Gz, M.Si.Med reminded the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle during Eid Al-Fitr 1443 Hijriah.

“To maintain a healthy diet during Eid, several ways are needed to maintain a balanced eating pattern such as self-control, applying my plate portion, increasing vegetable-based foods, serving low-sugar drinks such as Fruit soups and Infused Water,” said Leny.

Leny explained that the first thing to do during Eid is self-control during Eid. Self-control is very necessary so as not to take revenge after undergoing fasting for one month. If we don’t control yourself, all food will be eaten. If there is no self-control, it can cause weight gain

The second thing that must be done is to apply the portion of the meal according to the concept of “my plate contents (isi piringku) “.

The portion of the food on my plate has been issued by the Indonesian Ministry of Health. Conceptually, the portion given is according to age, according to the needs of each age group.

“For example, for adults, a round plate contains rice, side dishes, vegetables and fruit. With the position of the rice and side dishes on the left side, while the right side there are vegetables and fruit,” he said.

Furthermore, the portion of rice is more than the side dish, while the portion of vegetables is the same as the rice, and the portion of fruit is the same as the side dish. In this case, the largest portion is rice and vegetables.

Third, increase food made from vegetables. This is in accordance with the recommendation of balanced nutrition from the ministry of health by consuming more vegetables.

Fourth, replace the syrup with fruit soup that is low sugar. This is based on the recommendation from the Indonesian Ministry of Health regarding balanced nutrition that sugar consumption in a day is limited to only four tablespoons.

“In this case, you can use alternative water such as infusion water or use cinnamon as a substitute for sugar. Based on research, cinnamon can improve the body’s immune system. Meanwhile, using artificial sweeteners is allowed as long as it is according to the recommendations,” she said.

By implementing a healthy lifestyle during Eid, Leny hopes that his health can be maintained after fasting.

“Eating a balanced nutritious diet can also reduce obesity rates and keep the body healthy,” she said. (AUR/Humas UB/ Trans. Iir).
