The Arga Tirta-64 team from the Department of Water Resources Engineering, Faculty of Engineering at Universitas Brawijaya (UB), won 2nd place in the National Dam Design Competition (LRBN) VI, organized by Universitas Mataram on October 29–31, 2024.
This team consists of Vivid Ayu Trihana, Ken Haidar Shadra, and Yuaniar Prasetya Ardhianto, students from the 2021 class, under the guidance of Ir. Sri Wahyuni, ST., MT., PhD., IPM., ASEAN Eng.
With the competition theme Innovative Optimization of Earth Dam Operations, Arga Tirta-64 outperformed 21 other teams from across Indonesia.
Preparation for LRBN began in mid-August 2024, and all participants were required to go through a proposal selection phase. Participants received various technical data, including topographic, hydrological, geological, and soil testing data, which formed the basis for designing an earth dam in accordance with the organizers’ requirements.
During the competition, the team presented their earth dam design to a panel of judges consisting of water engineering experts. The assessment covered aspects such as structural strength, design innovation, and operational optimization of the dam.
Ir. Sri Wahyuni appreciated the team’s hard work in producing an innovative and applicable earth dam design. This achievement is a result of the team’s dedication and deep understanding of technical design and innovation in dam management.
This success reflects the quality of UB Water Resources Engineering students in the fields of water engineering and infrastructure planning. The accomplishment of the Arga Tirta-64 team also strengthens UB’s national reputation in civil and water engineering.
“This achievement is expected to motivate other UB students to continue innovating and developing their competencies in water engineering, and to contribute to the development of technology that benefits the wider community,” hoped Ir. Sri Wahyuni, as the Supervising Lecturer.
