Brawijaya University’s Reyog Team Performs in Thailand

The Brawjaya University (UB) Reyog Team will perform at the Indonesian Cultural Night event in Bangkok, Thailand on 17 September 2023. This performance meets the invitation of the Indonesian Ambassador in Bangkok. UB Reyog team that went to Bangkok consisted of jathil dancers, barongan, bujang ganong, gamelan musicians, two dance arrangers and accompanists (17 people).

UB Reyog Team coached by Prof. Dr. Eng. Denny Widhiyanuriyawan, ST., MT., IPM, on the first day (14/9/2023) visited the Bunditpatanasilpa Institute at the initiation of the Education and Culture Attaché, Indonesian Embassy in Bangkok. UB Reyog team then attended a dance workshop from Thailand played by Indonesian students. After following a series of exercises, the students were able to perform stunningly, dancing traditional Thai dances well.

The activity continued with the signing of an MOU between UB and Bunditpatanasilpa Institute, covering the following areas: 1. Academic exchange and collaboration, 2. Exchange of cultural activities, 3. Student exchange, 4. Student services, research and field practice, 5. Other activities in the academic field that are mutually profitable.

UB represented by UB Secretary Dr.Ir. Tri Wahyu Nugroho, SP., MSi accompanied by Dr. Agung Pramana Warih Marhendra, M.Si (Expert Staff of the Vice Rector

in the field of Student Affairs, Alumni and Student Entrepreneurship) and Heri Prawoto Widodo, S.Sos, MAB (Secretary of the Directorate of Administration and Academic Services).

The visit continues to Wat Arun (Wat Arun Rajwararam or Temple of Dawn). This name is taken from the God of Dawn, Aruna. Wat Arun is considered one of the most famous sites in Thailand which is a tourist destination and meeting for all university representatives from Indonesia. (HP/TWB/UB PR/ Trans. Iir)
