The Faculty of Law, Universitas Brawijaya (FH UB) through the Aegir Team has successfully achieved a proud achievement in the 2025 Contract Drafting and Negotiation Competition (CDNC). The competition, which is part of “The 5th National Business Legal Talk,” was held at Sebelas Maret University (UNS), Surakarta, on (21/2-23/2/2025). The Aegir Team successfully won the 1st Place title as well as the Best Contract award.
“After a long time, FH UB has never won a title in this competition, we are very proud to finally be able to bring home two awards at once. This is the result of the team’s hard work over the past few months,” said Alverian, one of the members of the Aegir Team.
CDNC is a national-level business law competition that tests participants’ abilities in drafting business contracts and conducting professional negotiations. This year, the competition raised the theme “Ideal Legal Framework and Business Practices for Green Energy Business Sustainability: Implementation Dynamics in ESG Review.”
A total of 21 teams from various universities in Indonesia participated in this competition. In the preliminary round conducted online, participants were asked to draft a complete business contract with related documents. The five teams with the highest scores were then invited to take part in the final round which involved direct negotiation practice.

The Aegir Team consists of six FH students, namely Alverian Devara Karhatt, Nadya Indira Desiana Putri, Fadila Vairuz Harsyad, Marvella Nursyah Putri, Jauza Afraa Fadhillah, and Jona Binsar Gracia.
They managed to steal the attention of the jury with their work which was considered the most comprehensive.
The Aegir Team raised the issue of “Green Energy” or clean energy, with a focus on the development of new renewable energy (EBT) and energy conservation.
“This issue is very relevant to the challenges the world is facing today, especially in reducing carbon emissions and supporting the clean energy transition. We try to offer solutions through business contracts that emphasize sustainability,” explained Alverian.
In their draft contract, the Aegir Team designed a power purchase agreement for a geothermal power plant. They also had to understand various technical aspects, such as electricity and net-zero emissions, to ensure that the contract was legally and substantively relevant.
The competition took place in two stages. The preliminary round was held online, where participants were given 30 days to draft a business agreement based on the case position provided. After qualifying for the final round, participants took part in offline negotiation practice at UNS.
“The biggest challenge was learning technical issues that we are not used to as law students, such as clean energy and electricity. In addition, several team members had to divide their time between the competition, thesis work, and organizational schedules,” said Alverian.
However, hard work and solid coordination succeeded in bringing Team Aegir to maximum results.
“We learned a lot from this experience, especially in translating legal theory into concrete practice. It’s not just about winning, but also about how we grow through the process,” Alverian added.
This victory is a great motivation for other FH students to excel in the field of business law.
“This competition is an amazing experience. We not only hone our skills in drafting contracts, but also learn to work under time pressure and collaborate in a team. We hope that more students dare to try similar challenges,” said Alverian.
The Aegir Team also hopes that their work can inspire various parties in supporting the green energy transition in Indonesia. “We believe that this contract is not only a legal document, but also an innovative idea to encourage energy sustainability,” he added.
The Aegir Team’s success shows the importance of combining legal skills and cross-disciplinary understanding in creating solutions to real-world challenges. This achievement is also proof that law students have a big role in supporting the green energy transition in Indonesia. Hopefully, this victory will be the beginning of many other achievements, as well as an inspiration for students to continue to develop and contribute to a better future. (Dilla/UB PR/ Trans. Iir)
