Faculty of Computer Science, Universitas Brawijaya (FILKOM UB) handed over a virtual tour designed by Indriati, S.T., M.Kom, Randy Cahya Wihandika S, ST., M.Kom, Putra Pandu Adikara, S.Kom., M.Kom to Surya Buana Islamic Ementary School and Ahmad Yani Integrated Islamic Elementary School, Malang City, Friday (29/7/2022 in the Meeting Room of FILKOM Department F Building. Indirati explained that the purpose of this service activity is to develop a new technology that will bring schools to potential target markets so that they will choose a school because it already has the latest technology that can be accessed and enjoyed without any obstacles.
“So far, promotions are still being carried out through the creation of pamphlets, school websites and social media. So, there needs to be a little effort to attract the interest of parents of prospective students by providing complete information such as this virtual tour, “explained Indirati.
She said virtual tours are simulations of existing locations, usually consisting of video sequences or still images. It can also use other multimedia elements such as sound effects, music, narration, and text.
The virtual 360 era is an effort for schools to continue to be able to approach and introduce schools to the wider community and provide them with an understanding of every advantage and achievement possessed by the school so that it can be a selling point for schools to be more convincing and reliable. Virtual tours can also show prospective students and their parents what they expect from their experience and familiarize themselves with navigating the rooms and facilities owned by the school in order to show the added value of the existence of the school itself.
In this activity also attended by representatives from SDI Surya Buana, namely Tahyata Inas Syah, S.Pd. as Deputy Head of Student Affairs and from SDIT Ahmad Yani, namely Nurdiah Rachmawati, S.Pd., M.Pd. as Head of School. The service, which has been started since April 2022, has received full support from the school related to activities starting from surveying school locations and planning for making virtual tour contents from taking pictures to filling out narrations.
