The Community Service Team (PENGMAS), Faculty of Computer Science, Universitas Brawijaya (FILKOM UB) installed CCTV with AI-based Human Object Detection Feature in RW 17, Sekarpuro Village, Pakis District, Malang Regency. The Head of PENGMAS FILKOM UB, Rakhmadhany Primananda, S.T., M.Kom., together with members, Prof. Dr.Eng. Fitri Utaminingrum, S.T., M.T., Sabriansyah Rizqika Akbar, S.T., M.Eng., Ph.D., and Dr. Eng. Gembong Edhi Setyawan, S.T., M.T., and accompanied by students Arvin Mulia Fernanda (’22-TKOM) and Shadam J’Verron (’22-TKOM).
The activity began in September by holding socialization to residents of RW 17 through a community meeting attended by RW administrators and residents. The installation process was carried out at four points on October 5 and October 27, 2024. These four IP-based CCTVs were recorded in 1 Network Video Recorder (NVR) unit which can record activities around the CCTV for approximately 2-3 weeks. The placement of the NVR and monitor was placed at the security post in front of the housing complex as a supporting facility for housing security guards in securing the area in one housing complex. In its implementation, this CCTV has a human object detection feature with a predetermined perimeter or point limit. The function of this feature is used to capture and record human objects that are considered intruders if they enter the perimeter. Therefore, this feature can provide early notification in the form of an alarm when an object enters the perimeter.
Rakhmadhany said that the installation of CCTV can monitor all activities that occur in the housing complex, from anyone who comes in and out, children playing, and other activities.
“The installation of CCTV is also to increase the sense of security, one of the main functions of CCTV is to prevent crime. The presence of CCTV provides a significant preventive effect for criminals, thus reducing the risk of theft or vandalism,” explained Rakhmadhany. (rp/rr/UB PR/ Trans. Iir)
