UB Doctoral Service Team Socializes Freshwater Fish Post-Harvest Handling

The combination of Universitas Brawijaya (UB) lecturers from the Faculty of Animal Husbandry (Fapet), the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences (FPIK), and the Faculty of Administrative Sciences (FIA), formed a team of doctoral service.

Chaired by Prof. Dr. Ir. Trinil Susilawati, M.S., IPU., ASEAN Eng (Fapet), the team consists of Dr. Nanang Febrianto, S.Pt., MP (Fapet), Dr. Dedes Amertaningtyas, S.Pt., MP (Fapet), Hefti Salis Yufidasari, S.Pi, M.P (FPIK), and Sri Sulasmiyati, S.Sos, M.A.P (FIA).

Trinil and others gave a socialization on post-harvest handling of freshwater fish in Senggreng Village, Sumber Pucung District, Malang Regency, Wednesday (9/6/2021). The event was attended by the Head of Sumber Pucung sub-district, the Head of Senggreng Village, as well as agricultural extension workers and participants from Sumber Duren group who become the targets of this community service activity.

Activities are carried out by providing group strengthening such as motivating business in livestock groups, improving administration, and organizing group management. Then, the delivery of fish processing technology to increase shelf life as well as training to promote products online or directly to tourists.

The location of this group is close to Sutami dam which can be used for fishing. Besides, it is located right in the Beef Cattle Cluster area of ​​Malang Regency, so that it can simultaneously increase people’s income in terms of livestock and fisheries.

“Considering that the current situation of the COVID-19 pandemic has made people’s behavior to be more favorable to outdoor tourism. So that while enjoying nature, they can buy fishery products that are highly nutritious and delicious to eat.
