In February, precisely on 4th and 5th February 2016, the men and women basketball team delegates of the Faculty of Medicine University of Brawijaya (FK-UB) departed to join in annual event so-called Solo Medical Cup 2016 that organized by Faculty of Medicine Sebelas Maret University of Surakarta (FK-UNS).
Play as the opening match, FK-UB’s men team met Faculty of Medicine Muhammadiyah University Semarang (FK-Unimus) and succeeded to win with score 38-8. Meanwhile FK-UB’s women team met Faculty of Medicine Lambung Mangkurat University (FK-Unlam) in score of 30-13, and won by FK-UB female team.
The second league of FK-UB’s men team succeeded to beat FK-UNS’s in thin score of 17-18. Meanwhile FK-UB’s women team met the FK-UNS B-team and succeeded to win a landslide in score of 94-2. Therefore, the male team grabbed group winner position and qualified for quarter final and the female team was qualified for semifinal.
In quarter final, the men team was succeeded to beat Faculty of Medicine Diponegoro University in score 35-21 and the men team qualified for semifinal.
In semifinal, the men team obtains more victory after against men’s team of Faculty of Medicine Andalas University (FK-Unand) in score 32-28, yet the women team defeated by Faculty of Medicine Airlangga University (FK-UA) in thin score 23-24 after going through the extra period. Therefore, the men team qualified for final against FK-UNS men team. Meanwhile the women team qualified for the three title race against FK Unlam’s women team.
In final stage, with high fighting spirit and men’s team good collaboration succeeded to defeat the host in final result 53-40 and succeeded to grab the first champion at Solo Medical Cup 2016 and also the women team succeeded to grab the third champion after defeat FK Unlam women team in final result 54-11.
