Local Committee 55 held a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) for the briefing and finalization in the event of new student admission via Joint Selection for State University Entrance (Seleksi Bersama Masuk Perguruan Tinggi Negeri/SBMPTN) 2017, Tuesday (4/4/2017).
The event held in Majapahit 2 Room in Malang Santika Premier Hotel was attended by a local committee from three state universities in Malang, University of Brawijaya (UB), State University of Malang (UM), and Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang State Islamic University (UIN).
The FGD is divided into two sessions, the first session is the discussion of registration mechanism, task division between Malang local state universities, and identification of problems. The second session relates to coordination in the ICT department of each state university.
Malang Local Committee’s secretary who also served as UB Vice Rector I of Academic Department, Prof. Dr. Ir. Kusmartono explained that based on ministerial regulation there are three different selection process for new admission, National Selection for State University Entrance (SNMPTN), Joint Selection for State University Entrance (SBMPTN) and Independent Admission Selection.
Based on the ministerial regulation UB set a 30% quota for National Selection, 40% for Joint Selection, and 30% for Independent Admission Selection.
Kusmartono explained that the execution for this year’s Joint Selection is basically similar to the previous years, with a few differences. One of them is that the exam paper must be returned to completion and participant are not allowed to bring it home.
“The exam paper must be returned and participants are not allowed to bring it home because it must be destroyed. Since there are thousands of papers we expect the cooperation of UM and UIN to provide resources to destroy the papers in each university’s facility, so that it does not have to be returned to UB,” Kusmartono said.
Division of exam group itself has already been assigned, science and technology (SAINTEK) exam group will be held in UM, social and humanities (SOSHUM) group in UB, and Mixed Exam Group in UIN. [ronny/UB PR]
