The Faculty of Computer Science, Universitas Brawijaya (FILKOM UB) held an alumni gathering for all classes with the theme “Knitting Gathering, Building Brotherhood” Saturday (27/5/2023) which was held at Ambhara Hotel, South Jakarta. This grand alumni meeting was attended by the leadership of FILKOM Dean and all Heads of Study Programs with around 200 alumni participating.
Dean of FILKOM, Prof. Ir. Wayan Firdaus Mahmudy, S.Si., MT., Ph.D. conveyed the reasons why this Alumni Gathering was held in Jakarta. This is because most of the alumni from FILKOM UB work in the Jabodetabek area so it is felt that many FILKOM alumni will attend. Besides that Prof. Wayan also said that beside being a forum for hospitality, this activity also encouraged the birth of ideas and input from alumni to support and improve the learning curriculum at FILKOM.
“Not only nostalgia, the presence of hundreds of alumni with work backgrounds is expected to be able to make a real contribution to the progress of FILKOM UB,” explained Prof. Wayan.
In line with the opinion of the Dean, Vice Dean for Student Affairs, Alumni, and Student Entrepreneurship, Drs. Muh. Arif Rahman, M.Kom. said the alumni meeting was a form of concern for the faculty for its former students.
“The existence of this activity can introduce the current condition of the campus to alumni, so that alumni are still cared for. As well as giving appreciation to them. With the presence of alumni, FILKOM can grow to be better and bigger than before. It is hoped that by holding this activity the alumni can form a FILKOM alumni association group,” he explained.
In this activity, the alumni who attended were separated in each room according to their study program. Through this activity alumni can directly share their experiences with the Heads of Study Programs, so that the inputs from alumni can become a reference in forming the learning curriculum at FILKOM. At 12.00 WIB the alumni were gathered in the ballroom to participate in sharing at the faculty level.
The excitement of this Alumni Gathering activity can be seen from the enthusiasm of the participants and alumni who are very good, with various inputs and sharing given to alumni and to study programs. In addition, various attractive prizes were provided during the event, such as merchandise from FILKOM. As the closing of the event, a quiz game was held from the leaders of the Dean and Study Programs for the Alumni to give prizes to the lucky participants.[drn/Humas UB/ Trans. Iir]
