Water Resources Engineering Goes for AUN-QA

WhatsApp Image 2016-11-08 at 8.05.56 AMThe Undergraduates Study Program of Water Resources Engineering will be visited by ASEAN University Network Quality Assurance (AUN-QA). The pioneer in Indonesian water resources engineering is the first department in Faculty of Engineering which proposed AUN QA certification.

This 71st  AUN-QA visitation will be held for 3 study program (SP): Undergraduates program of Water Resources Engineering, Law, and Animal Husbandry on 8 to 10 November 2016. The AUN-QA assessors team are brought to clarify and verify the Self-Assessment Report of Water Resources Engineering which was sent before. Assoc.Prof Dr. Tan Kay Chuan (National University of Singapore) and Prof. Dr. Myrna S. Austria (De La Salle University, Philippines) is the assessors who will visit Water Resources Engineering Department.

In line with the vision of FT-UB to became an eminent institution in the field of engineering in Asia, AUN-QA certification enhances the competitiveness of the Faculty of Engineering at the international level. AUN-QA is one accreditation/ certification institution which will become a stepping stone towards international accreditation at the global level. The objective of AUN-QA primarily is to support the implementation of the learning process which always conduct the process of continuous improvement. Therefore, the certificate is not the main objective, but rather the goal for advice-input improvement for the study program.

ASEAN University Network (AUN) is a network of several universities in ASEAN with the aim of strengthening the network in the field of cooperation among several major universities in ASEAN to promote cooperation and solidarity among students and academics in ASEAN, resource development academics and professionals, as well as the dissemination of information to the academic community. AUN-QA (AUN-Quality Assurance), which was founded in 1998 aiming to develop a network of quality assurance as a means to achieve and maintain a high-quality education.

Benefits for university and study program which has been certified by AUN-QA, the study program is equivalent to other high-quality university study programs in ASEAN. Opportunities for participation in AUN-QA program, and/ or projects and develop initiatives with partner organizations of ASEAN. Adding a network in the ASEAN meetings CQO (Chief Quality Officer) AUN-QA and conferences were organized AUN-QA. Given the opportunity and priority to attendAUN-QA workshops and training courses, as well as share best practices in the AUN-QA and various information related to quality assurance. In addition, students in an AUN-QA certified study program can do a credit transfer to other universities that have been certified.

There are 15 assessment criteria conducted by a team of assessors from the AUN-QA. Assessment is carried out is not limited to the accreditation forms but also the readiness of the building, safety standards, educational facilities, and a warning system. In addition, policies on standardization of teaching and learning process, the value of moderation procedures, catastrophic events or accidents is also seen.
