Mechanical Engineering UB Joint Research with Keio University Japan

As for the implementation, this program involves the students from Keio University who completed the final thesis in one of the oldest departments in the FT-UB.

“This research collaboration is considered very satisfactory, so it will be continued in the next activities, namely research and community service in the field of energy and environment with a grant from Japan,” says Head of Mechanical Engineering Bachelor Degree Program, Dr.Eng Widya Wijayanti, ST. , MT., on Thursday (March 3, 2016), in her office.
For that, there’s a great possibility of increasing collaboration between Japanese universities and the Department of Mechanical Engineering through research projects in the fields of energy and environment.

The Lecture who is a Yamaguchi University Alumni explained, this cooperation will be patented by a collaborative research agreement between the two countries, where the funding sources of the grants originated from Japan.

“Before the agreement is reached, a workshop was held some time ago to determine what problems exist in Indonesia, especially problems lays on campus territory,” he said.

From the event entitled Workshop On Global Environmental System Leaders, it’s expected to determine what problems and solutions that will be taken. This workshop bring experts in the field of energy and the environment of both campuses, Prof. Toshihisa Ueda. PhD (Keio University) and Prof. Ir. I.N.G. Wardana, M. Eng., PhD (UB).

From the workshop that was held in the seminar room of the Department of Mechanical Engineering of FT-UB was revealed that energy needs and environmental problems are felt not only on a national scale, but it has already become a global problem.

Then, these energy and environmental issues that exist in Indonesia is the availability of many natural resources but lacking in the technology which still has many shortcomings and lack of ability to manage it.

For environmental issues that need to be observed is that there still not much awareness for human behavior to not harm the environment. Lifestyle also needs to be improved in view of the rapid depletion of existing energy. Energy saving and environmental conservation should be done immediately.

As for developed countries, the high-tech force them to share their technology to be applied in developing countries which come again to realization that these energy and environmental problems have become global problem that must be solved together. (and/emis/mic)
